It’s that time of year when some of the world’s leading hi fi press start handing out awards for
products they consider to be the best in their categories. As a general rule, these awards are chosen
by a panel of leading reviewers who have had the opportunities to put a multitude of products
through their paces in the preceding 12 months.
We have only three brands in the Epoz stable - and all three have featured this year.
Here’s the summary of awards to date.......
First of all - in Australia Sound & Image announced their 2012 awards at the time of the
hugely successful Audio and AV show in Melbourne. Whilst we have already mentioned our success
we feel there is no harm in highlighting it again!
WINNER - AKTIMATE MICRO
CATEGORY - 2012 Desktop Audio Product of the Year
WINNER - EPOS EPIC 5
CATEGORY - 2012 Stereo loudspeakers under $2500
(Remember this speaker sells at just $1500 so it beat some exceptional opposition)
And now to the UK - Hi-Fi Choice announced their awards not long ago

RUNNER UP - CREEK DESTINY 2 INTEGRATED AMPLIFIER
CATEGORY - Best amplifier over £1000

At the annual Australian Sound & Image awards held to co-incide with the Australian Hi Fi Show
during the latter part of October, two products from Epoz received Product of the Year awards.
These were the Epos Epic 5 loudspeaker, awarded Best Speakers under $2500 (they sell in
Australia for just $1500 so it was a remarkable win given the competition).
The second award went to AktiMate’s new Micro which was developed especially for the desktop
market. The award, Best Desktop Audio, was a new category in this year’s award and such was
the excellence of the Micro according to the judges, there were no other products which
could seriously compete!

Epoz announces a price drop for the AktiMate Mini and Maxi - passing on the savings made as a
result of the strength of the Australian dollar. The Mini drops from $699 to $599 and the Maxi from
$999 to $925. Real wood walnut Maxis are now priced at $925 - there is no surcharge as had been
the case prior to this price drop.

Two brilliant Australian reviews have already appeared on the new Epos speaker range - the Epic 5
features in Australian Hi Fi (it also commands the cover of the magazine) and the Epic 2 is in the

For the second time in three years Epoz took out the annual Cedia Golf Day Competition.
This is always a great day and this year the Epoz team called in the talents of those well
revered golfers Cec Kinghan and Bruce Ensor. Much of their business in the early days of Insound
must surely have been discussed on the golf course given how well they play! We should also
remember the talents of Jason’s Dad Derek, who made up the foursome on the day. The trophy
sits proudly at Insound (alongside the AktiMate speakers) where it will remain until next year’s
tournament.
